About the event

About the event

During this evening session at Loughborough University you will hear about the very latest in drone technology, BIM integration, and how to implement drones safely within the business. Including an overview of how satellite imagery can also be used and its benefits in Construction.

Overview

A recent report by PWC, identified that by 2030, drones will deliver £3.5bn gross cost savings in the construction and manufacturing sector and deliver a multi-factor productivity impact of 3.1%.

Paul Trainor
and Stuart Taylor, both pilots and Directors at fireFLY (a leading Midlands based provider) will talk you through the basics covering:

Introduction

•How can drones be used to survey land and what are the benefits and restrictions?
•Using drone gathered intelligence to improve infrastructure
•The construction life cycle – how can drones be used to track progress and deliver a compelling ‘golden record’ of all construction activities? How can data be used to better inform colleagues and stakeholders?
•Satellite imagery, benefits and draw backs

Drones and BIM

•Using drones to improve the data gathering process and incorporating data into BIM software
•Drones are just another tool in the box. However, used in the correct way, they can be used to improve knowledge and productivity – find out how drones can support the BIM process

Drone Regulation and Safety

•What are the specific regulations that apply to drones and what is required to use them for commercial purposes?
•Implementing drones within the business – what is needed? How do we get licenced?
•Contracting in drone operators – what should I look for?

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and take a closer look at a (stationary) drone.
