About the event

Ecology is part of the development agenda, providing challenges but also opportunities.  This session will deal with more than legislation, penalties and allocation of duty of care.  We will also be covering:
  • Building wildlife habitats into projects
  • Understanding the different interests of landowners, developers and ecologists
  • Alternative techniques e.g. district licensing
  • The role of the Ecology Consultant
  • The quest for certainty in an ever changing environment

James Simpson is an ecologist with a passion for wildlife, who also has an appreciation of the restraints and demands on project planning in development.  This is sure to be an emotive, educational and interactive session - taking place at the SDC Builders offices, in Bedford.

James Simpson is an Associate Director for ADAS, managing a team of Ecologists and leading on eDNA training. Last summer his article ‘Bats and Newts can be turned to your advantage’ was published by Construction News.

ADAS provides services for a wide range of clients including utility companies and house builders. They provide the full service of Ecological support from Phase 1 and 2 surveys to Environment Statements and Public Inquiries.
